Board of Directors

The Veritas School Board of Directors is responsible for governing the affairs and operation of the school in accordance with Scripture and the Bylaws, Mission Statement, Philosophy Statement, and Statement of Faith of the school. The Board is comprised of between five and fifteen members who are elected for three-year terms. The Board of Directors is firmly committed to remaining true to Veritas’ mission and vision through ongoing Board training, robust succession planning, investments in legal and human resources, and the thoughtful cultivation of new Board candidates.

  • Mike McClure (Chair)

    Mike McClure is a Managing Director at Serve Capital Partners, a private investment firm focused on investing in niche private equity strategies. He holds a degree in Mathematics from UNC Chapel Hill and an MBA from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. Mike and his wife, Michelle, have three children at Veritas.
  • Jeff Burkett

    Jeff Burkett leads Progressive Engineering & Heat Treating, a designer and manufacturer of custom specialty gears and machined parts. Jeff earned his undergraduate degree in business from Wake Forest University’s Wayne Calloway School of Business and Accountancy and holds an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He and his wife Brittany have three children who attend Veritas.
  • Anne Creasy

    Anne Creasy joined the Board of Directors in 2022. She is Associate VP of Strategic Communications at FORVIS, LLP and has served in various public relations, legislative and corporate communications roles throughout her career.  Anne is a graduate of James Madison University. She and her husband, David have two children who attend Veritas. 
  • Raymond Goodlett

    Raymond Goodlett serves as the Director of Family and Student Ministry at Redemption Hill Church, and he also helps coach soccer at Veritas School (currently middle school girls, previously varsity boys). Raymond earned a BS in Chemistry at Howard University, where he also played soccer. He became a Christian during his senior year and had a brief career in professional soccer in addition to studying at Fuller Theological Seminary and serving in campus ministry for many years. Raymond's wife Heather is the Founder and Executive Director of the Youth Life Foundation of Richmond, and they have three daughters who attend Veritas. 
  • Leslie Moeller

    Leslie Moeller has been involved in classical, Christian education for 20 years as a teacher, administrator, consultant, and board member.  Most recently, she has served on the boards of the Society for Classical Learning and New Covenant Schools in Lynchburg, Virginia.  Leslie received her B.A. from the University of Virginia and her J.D. from Boston College Law School.  She and her husband, Eric, have three children - their two older sons both graduated from a classical Christian school in Texas prior to attending UVa, and their daughter, Virginia, is a senior at Veritas.
  • Howard Shafferman

    Howard Shafferman is the founder of The Haswell Group, and is an executive coach. He practiced law for many years in DC in a national law firm and served in the Federal Government. Howard is a graduate of Princeton University and the University of Virginia School of Law. He chaired the national board of FOCUS, a Christian outreach to independent school students, and served on the board of a Christian school in Northern Virginia. He and his wife, Molly, are Veritas grandparents.
  • Warren Smith

    Warren Smith joined the Board of Directors in 2019. He is the Corporate Secretary and Chief of Staff – Americas Operating Executive for EY (Ernst & Young, LLP). Prior to his current appointment, he served in various leadership roles in the firm’s Talent organization. He earned his Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Virginia. Warren and his wife Tasha have three children, one adult, one Veritas alumna, and one who currently attends Veritas.
  • Sebastian Traeger

    Sebastian Traeger graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Politics. He has co-founded several companies, including Village Phone in El Salvador, Christianity.com, Razoo.com and FiveStreet.com, and served as the Executive Vice President / COO of the International Mission Board from 2014-18. Since then, he has returned to his entrepreneurial roots, transforming Reliability.com. In addition to his professional life, Sebastian has been active in his church and has co-authored The Gospel At Work, published in 2014. Sebastian and his wife, Nikki, have four children who attend Veritas.
